Welcome to my website!

I had a great time teaching bluegrass guitar at the CBA’s Music Camp at Grass Valley as well as attending the festival. AJ Lee and Blue Summit (my son’s band) was a big hit there!

Speaking of Blue Summit, I’ll be opening for them with a trio of me, Sullivan and a rare appearance by Michael at the Sandwich Opera House in Illinois. We’ll be opening with some of my originals and a few other songs, and for sure I’ll let the boys kill it on something fast. Heck, I’ll work on my speed and see if I can keep up! And if you haven’t heard Blue Summit, they are one of the best bluegrass bands in the country – catch them now at a small(ish) venue before they blow up!

In July, I’m teaching Bluegrass Banjo and a Bluegrass Jam Class at CCMC.

In October I’ll be teaching flatpicking guitar at the Thompson Guitar Camp. More details to come.

I’m happy to say that I’m now selling all eleven of my books in PDF form. There are now four Primer books, with a traditional bluegrass focus, all carefully thought out for progressive learning in logical and systematic manner.

With the current state of affairs, I’ve moved all of my lessons to online. I’m using Zoom, FaceTime and Skype.  I’m enjoying the challenge of figuring out how to get the most out of online lessons. Luckily, I have tons of written material that has been digitized, as well as tons of pre-made audio for students, many already posted on this web site. I also have been making one-off backing tracks for students to play along with and often I make recordings right in the lesson that are immediately emailed out. So it’s got me with my head back in the lesson production business, just with an all new focus!

There’s lots of ways to pay for lessons. My favorites? PayPal (jackfiddle@gmail.com) send to a “friend” (no fees!) or Venmo: @Jack-Tuttle-2. Less common, but also available is Google Wallet, Apple Pay Cash and Zelle.
