Little Sadie is my newest piece that involves the uncommon clawhammer guitar style, borrowed from banjo techique. I learned this from Michael Stadler at the CCMC camp.
The new CD with me and my father is out now!
Say It's Possible is a song I learned off the internet. Warning - no bluegrass content!
Rock of Ages features my banjo playing and singing on the Gillian Welch song.
And here is a mp3 of me playing Beaumont Rag at age twelve on guitar.
The photo on the right is from my 2005 trip to IBMA in Nashville. I got to be part of a kids show there. That's Sierra Hull singing harmony with me.
Here is an mp3 of my recording of Old Dangerfield. They used this for the article about me in Flatpicking Guitar magazine, and its accompanying CD.
My father teaches bluegrass for a living (all of the instruments) so I've mostly learned from him. My two younger brothers also play. Sullivan plays guitar and Michael plays mandolin. I've played quite a bit with Frankie and Nico Nagle, who were also students of my dad. I also have been lucky to play a few times with Brittany Haas, one of the best fiddlers ever and also one of my dad's former students.
Most recently I've been playing with Angelica Grim, Victor Skidanenko and AJ Riger-Lee. It's very fun and they are great bluegrass musicians! We call ourselves the School of Bluegrass and it includes my brothers and my dad - 7 people. |
